On December 16th, Huawei released its latest smartphone Honor Magic. It is full of new exciting features absent in many phones. Here we will compare it to Apple’s iPhone 7.

Design wise Honor Magic is experimenting with a new concept. Although both phones are comparable in size, Honor Magic has nice 5.09 inch AMOLED curved display with QHD resolution 577 ppi compared to iPhones 7’s no curved wraparound 4.7 inch 327 ppi screen. Some even predict that curved displays will be a feature of future iPhones.

Both phones have very powerful and comparable processors. The Honor Magic has 4 gigabytes of RAM compared to the iPhone 7’s, which has 2 gigabytes of RAM. Honor Magic has also better cameras. It has dual 12 MP back cameras while iPhone 7 has only single 12 MP back camera. Honor Magic has 8 MP face camera comparing to iPhone 7’s 7MP.

Honor Magic has also better battery life than iPhone 7. It also charges faster. A 10-minute charge can get a depleted battery back to 40 percent, whereas a 20-minute charge gets it up to 70 percent.

On top of these nice hardware features Honor Magic has also exciting software features as well. Magic’s infrared camera on the front uses Tobii's eye-tracking algorithm which enables to turn the screen on only when user is looking at it. So it makes pushing power button to turn phone on redundant. There is also nice FaceCode feature that automatically displays notification content when the phone recognizes registered user’s face. There are also many more artificial intelligence features which are absent in iPhone 7, like situation-aware features.

Overall, Honor Magic is an excellent new phone that could potentially compete with iPhone 7. However, currently it is available only in China.
