The new PC goes for style and functionality

Computing company iBUYPOWER has a new, flashy gaming PC that it's showing off at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

iBUYPOWER has announced the Revolt, which is a new and stylish gaming PC with Intel CPUs and the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics.

The Revolt is designed to be visually appealing with its white, black and blue exterior. It's also customizable, so gamers will want to show off more than just their actual games.

“We didn’t look to the industry for inspiration when we were developing Revolt. What we looked for was the burning question of, what would we like to have on our own desks? We wanted to shake up the industry and make something beautiful. This is what Revolt is,” said Darren Su, Co-Founder and VP of iBUYPOWER.

Aside from exterior design, the Revolt is also built to handle any amount of gaming. It has an efficient and compact power supply, liquid cooling and advanced component support. This chassis structure also reduces noise generation from excess chassis fans common in standard gaming desktops, and to maximize CPU overclocking ability, Revolt customers have the option to mount liquid CPU cooling with up to a full-size 140mm radiator.

Additionally, the mini-iTX motherboard and internal peripherals are designed to enhance the functionality of the system, including upgrades and overclocking features.

Customers can pre-order the Revolt now, and it will ship in February 2013.

What's with gaming rigs shipping with mini itx mobos? Since when were they ever adopted by gamers spending this much cash.

Smaller chassis. If the goal is to get a good CPU, GPU, and single hard drive (hopefully an SSD) into a small case then you don't need a full size ATX motherboard with a bunch of SATA headers and such.

I honestly can't think of a case smaller than a full tower to be acceptable to any real gamer with decent specs. Depth wise GPUs these days are really pushing the length limits. Also I'm not sure this case they are showing is wide enough to take standard cards, at least it doesn't look like it here. I will look on ibuy in a few. Always hated their computers though, made with substandard parts that should have been done with a long time ago, such as ribbon cables just a few years ago. Their products seem horribly cheap and shoddy to me.

Honestly I cant find a single hint in your post that you know what your talking about.

If you looked at the specs available on this machine you would easily see it can be quite a potent little gaming rig and for a pretty decent price.
Many of their "substandard" parts are retail off the shelf components that you can go buy at NewEgg, so again you dont know what you are talking about.

I went to their website and configured one with a 3570k, water cooling, superclocked 670, 8gb ram, 120gb ssd, 500gb hdd, 500w psu for only $1270.

Pretty decent by any standards.

There are mini-ITX cases that are designed to fit GTX 680 cards. What else does a "real gamer" need aside from room for a good GPU, CPU, and one or maybe two hard drives?

A full size ATX motherboard has lots of cruft that a dedicated gaming machine doesn't need. You certainly don't need a dozen SATA headers and room for a dozen hard drives, this is a gaming machine, not a server.

An ideal "small" gaming case would have room for a full size video card, mini-ITX mobo, and room for one or two 2.5" SSDs, that's it. No optical drive either, there is no real need now that you can download everything and install operating systems/run diagnostics from a USB key.

You could make a very compact and powerful modern LAN box with those specs.

I understand but not many gamers actually travel with their systems and if you don't travel with this machine it really isn't worth buying unless for some reason you absolutely positively don't have room for anything bigger. Is this about the size of a 360? because I know friends who complain about traveling even with that.
Seems more like a wannabe gamers rig than a real gamer or hardware fanatic.

Right, but if you do like to travel with your machines and go to LAN parties then this is actually pretty good. It is certainly better than lugging around a tower.

What benefit does having a full size ATX mobo give you from a gamer standpoint? If you can get a good GPU in there, and last I checked an overclocked GTX 670 is pretty good, then who cares?

Obviously if you want to fit a bunch of hard drives in there then you wouldn't get this case, but file hoarders or home servers are a different market from a gamer who likes to travel with their machine a lot.
