Video iPod? - Image courtesy MacShrine

Full screen video madness

Is this the real Video iPod? MacShrine has a picture of what appears to be a full screen iPod. These photos match up pretty well with the drawings from the US Patent and Trademark Office we posted a few weeks ago detailing a touch sensitive GUI for portable devices. Apple appears to be combining gestures into a form where a user will not have to use any form of clicking or pressing buttons. As it appears currently, the pictures indicate that users will be able to navigate the entire user interface by using gestures exclusively.

Figures that something like this pop up as soon as I pick up a 30GB 5G iPod.

Nice, but not for me.

I have no idea how long it will take, but full screen or not Apple will not get me to buy an iPod for over $75 unless they can make it both large capacity and flash based. I guess I'm unique considering how many they have sold, but I just can't see spending that kind of money on a device you can't safely work-out with, or on the other hand a device that can't hold my entire MP3 collection. Of course if you view an iPod as something like a video card - it needs to be upgraded every so often - then it's a different story.

i agree with you. i wouldnt want to take that anywhere and break the screen or something (i'm not so caring about things that are on me all the time, my cellphone looks awful).

that said, i probably will never buy an ipod just because i cant really see a need for a machine that just carries mp3s and videos. i mean. i dont even have 8 gb of mp3s and why would anyone NEED to bring all those video and such around on a volatile easily breakable thing (that kills that, i dont keep them on my computer idea) with a battery that dies after a year or so.

if an ipod, say was also a blackberry or something and was still the same size, ok... that could be cool

Hmm, I also use my iPod for keeping backups of my photos and important files (but only one backup, I don't rely on it and have them backed up elsewhere). You can configure it to look like a drive on your computer and copy anything you want to it.

That said, I'm still only using 17GB out of my 40GB iPod.

Also, people have used iPods as boot devices.
