Gateway today announced a new LCD PC display today, the 30" XHD3000.
The Gateway XHD3000 promises some features that are not found on other 30-inch displays from Dell and HP. One of the features Gateway promotes on the XHD3000 is the 1600p HD resolution. All 30-inch LCD displays for PC use share the same resolution of 2560 x 1600, so Gateway has nothing new to add here.
However, what Gateway is adding with its new display is a wealth of connectivity options allowing for the connection of up to six devices and the ability to upscale 1080p content from HD DVD or Blu-ray players to the 1600p resolution and an IR remote that controls up to six devices in line-of-sight.
Gateway claims the XHD3000 sports a 5 millisecond response time, though nothing in product guidances suggests the new display uses a different panel than the one found in Dell's 30" desktop offerings. Like most high-end 30" panels on the market today, the XHD3000 sports a Samsung S-PVA panel.
Connectivity options include HDMI with HDCP, analog VGA, DVI, composite video, S-Video, component YPrPb and six USB ports. The contrast ratio is 1000:1 and the screen brightness is 400 Cd/m2.
The Gateway XHD3000 LCD is listed as available for purchase now at Gateway.com for $1,699.99. Samsung is also anticipated to launch a 30" consumer display later this year.
