Some new developments may be of interest to Comcast's many customers

75-year-old woman Mona "The Hammer" Shaw took her frustration against Comcast out in a vigilante-style attack.

Following an American tradition of outlaw vigilantism against business and legal wrongdoing Shaw demolished a Comcast store in Manassas, Virginia.  The Dillinger Gang, Stephanie St. Clair and Junior Johnson would be proud.

Shaw, frustrated by poor service, went with her husband to the local store to speak with a customer service manager.  The customer service representative (CSR) told them a manger would be with them shortly and directed them to a bench outside.

After two hours with no word, the representative came outside and announced that the manager had left for the day and thanked the Shaws for their trouble.

Mona Shaw described her outrage as, "They thought just because we're old enough to get Social Security that we lack both brains and backbone."

After stewing about the humiliating experience over the weekend, Mona on Monday took her husband's claw hammer and journeyed back to the Comcast store.

She charged into the office and laid a powerful hammer stroke upon the CSR's keyboard; two more shots razed the monitor.  By the time the police had arrived, Shaw had also taken her hammer to a telephone.

Shaw was then handcuffed by police.  After experiencing high blood pressure, a rescue team was called and she was transported away on a litter.

She said of Comcast, "What a bunch of sub-moronic imbeciles."

Shaw was let off lightly, receiving a three-month suspended sentence for disorderly conduct, a $345 fine in restitution and a court-ordered year-long ban from appearing in the Comcast office.

Beth Bacha, a vice president for Comcast, was unapologetic about Mona Shaw's bad experience. "Truly a unique and inappropriate situation, nothing justifies this sort of dangerous behavior," said Bacha.

The police said their had been other calls from the Comcast office previously, but would not elaborate on details.

Neighbors described Mona Shaw and her husband as pleasant, even-temepered people.

Funny thing is the people who were borderline assaulted by the crazed old bag realy have no power over the situation and it was a total waste.

Normaly my response would be to join the bandwagon and cheer the attack against the evil company. However having to deal with stupid and moronic customers on a daily basis working at an ISP leads me to be much more skeptical about grannies righteous indignancy.

People that react that stupidly and strongly are almost 100% of the time in the wrong in believing something that is not even the companies problem, is. Comes to mind the customers that threatened to shoot our wireless installers via 12 guage shotgun if they came on their property to retreive our equipment, (when their service was terminated mostly for reasons of their own stupidity and abusiveness). Funniest thing is that customer ended up still with the company. After trying another wireless provider and getting terminated with them within three days (which resulted in a hilarious call from the other provider letting us know they are insane and will NEVER get service from them again) They came suckholing back to the manager realising they burned all their bridges and surprisingly have learned to mind their manners, or at the very least stop calling over their own computer related problems.

I'm an IT professional, and if I went to the office of my local ISP, and waited 2 hours for the manager, only to be told he has gone home, I would do the same.

But I might use a bigger hammer.

There is no excuse for bad service. I applaud her actions, but I regret that she was fined for them. At least the publicity against Comcast will help though.

I see it as bad publicity against Comcast and will affect new signups and current customers.
