iPhones are invading Germany!
If you live in Germany, you will soon be able to get the new iPhone!
Deutsche Telekom's mobile phone division, T-Mobile just won a significant contract in Germany. The contract, announced September 19, 2007 will give T-Mobile exclusive rights to sell Apple's popular iPhone in Germany.
The 8 GB phone will debut in Germany on November 9, 2007 and will sell for 399
euros ($558).
The move follows English phone giant O2's winning bid to sell the phone in the United Kingdom, as reported at DailyTech.
Hamid Akhavan, CEO, T-Mobile International had this to say on the victory: “I am proud that Apple and T-Mobile
have become partners. The best mobile device currently on the market
will soon be operating on the best network in the country.”
The iPhone is certainly a hot seller. In only 74 days it sold one million units in the United States.
T-Mobile already had some non-official iPhone business, through unlocked iPhones operating on T-Mobile networks in the U.S. This marks the first time T-Mobile will be officially licensed to work with and distribute the compatible iPhone.
Deutsche Telekom is one of central Europe's largest phone providers with 112 million customers. German users will have full access to Apple's iTunes story and the iPhone's visual voicemail service.
