Last week when Apple announced the new iMac computers, they also showed off a couple new keyboards. One of the new Apple keyboards was a thin-wired version connecting to a Mac via USB.
The other more interesting keyboard unveiled with the new iMac, for those who shun wires, was the much tidier looking Apple Wireless Keyboard. While the wired version of the Apple Keyboard shows to ship in three to five days, the wireless version shows that it ships in four to six weeks.
Apple didn’t give any reasons as to why the wireless version was delayed so much, but the answer is the wireless keyboard was awaiting FCC approval. We found the FCC filing today and noticed while Apple requested none of their images be released until August 30; the FCC posted a shot they took of the back of the keyboard where the FCC sticker will reside.
The FCC documents show the keyboard will be 4.2mm thick with a width of 275.92mm and a depth of 108.32mm. A safe bet will be that the keyboard is available for purchase on August 30th.
