Xbox 360 users can now playback CinemaNow downloads

CinemaNow, the online service for downloadable Hollywood movies and TV shows, today released an upgraded version of its Media Manager software application for the download, management and playback of video content. Enabled now are video downloads that are directly accessible by networked Xbox 360 users.

To facilitate the downloading process, the Media Manager automatically downloads to a user's PC when a video is rented or purchased. The new version now has the ability to detect an Xbox 360 gaming console on a customer's home network. A customer can choose any video from CinemaNow's selection, download it to a Windows XP or Windows Vista PC and play it back on a TV using the Xbox 360 as a connective device.

The new Media Manager also makes CinemaNow's exclusive Burn-to-DVD service available to Windows Vista users, so that they can choose select movies to burn a video to a DVD for playback in a standard DVD player.

"CinemaNow is on a mission to enable simple and fast integration into our customers' lives," said Curt Marvis, CEO of CinemaNow. "This upgrade alone makes our entire library of more than 7,000 videos available to the millions of Xbox users who are downloading movies online and watching them on their TVs."

As long as you buy burn-to-dvd movies, you won't have to worry about DRM after burning the disc. It's playable on a standard DVD player, which means it's in a standard DVD format.

<sarcasm>Good post though.</sarcasm>

Actually they do use DRM.
They use fluxDVD. Which as I understand it allows one copy to be burned, and that copy can not be duplicated.

"fluxDVDs use a Microsoft Windows Media compatible DRM scheme that allows easy integration into exiting server- and client side MS DRM environments. Burned DVD-Rs use an updateable, sophisticated DMCA copy protection such as Secureburn or Recordable CSS. The DVD-Rs created with SecureBurn are 100% compatible to standard hard- and software DVD-Players that can read recordable DVDs."

Good post though;)

Will it be cracked of course it will. But then its illegal again. A good step foward.

Now I can finally play that low res content on my hi-def player. Woohoo! Way to leverage that hardware. j/k :) I'm sure people are happy to have the choice. CinemaNow's site actually works as easy as you need, too bad they don't have a subscription plan for new releases. Their "library" of subscription content is absolute garbage. With their high prices I don't know why anyone would use it since NetFlix has on demand now.
