AMD RD790 naked shot (Source: HKEPC)
RD790 to gain triple and quad CrossFire capabilities

AMD is preparing to update its aging 580X chipset later this year with the upcoming RD790. The upcoming RD790 serves double duty as the single and dual processor platform of choice for AMD desktop products. RD790 introduces 41 PCIe 2.0 lanes to AMD’s Socket AM2+ platform for Stars-family processors.

Motherboard manufacturers can distribute the PCIe lanes in many configurations, including four PCIe 2.0 x16 slots with eight-lane signaling. With all 41 PCIe 2.0 lanes, the RD790 chipset has a TDP up to 10-watts. AMD roadmaps reveal the multiple PCIe 2.0 slots are used for an improved CrossFire multi-GPU technology. The improved CrossFire multi-GPU technology supports up to four ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT graphics cards in Quad CrossFire configurations.

Unlike NVIDIA’s SLI, which supports dual or quad graphics cards in SLI, the improved CrossFire solution can take on three cards for improved performance. AMD claims CrossFire scaling with three cards yields a 2.6x performance increase. Two cards in CrossFire yield a 1.8x performance improvement. AMD roadmaps do not divulge how well CrossFire scales with four GPUs.

Expect RD790 to arrive later this year in time for the AMD Phenom product launch in single and dual processor configurations.

How do you have more choice in the USA? YOU DON'T unless you have a lot of $$$
this was my original point - if you have money you DO have a choice in USA, but if you have money in Canada - you DON'T have choice. why? because it's illegal to pay for your healthcare here, EXACTLY in the same way it was illegal to pay for education and proper service (communal, municipal, hotel, anything) in Soviet Union. this similarity is startling, would you believe me if I say that my wife was shocked by the local healthcare quality when she came from Russia 3 years ago? you won't believe me because 1) you're brainwashed and 2) you've never been to Russia and you have no idea how their healthcare works. actually, Russians don't believe me when I'm telling them that in Canada you can't pay for healthcare, you have to wait in 9-month wait lines, and even when you come to the rare private clinics (dental for instance) they treat you like dirt by not allowing to take your exam results, like it's done in Russia, they'd rather wait for a couple of months and send it by snail mail to your doctor, very slowly, while in Russia you just take your results the same day and bring it to your doctor yourself, but it's again freakin illegal in Canada!

I'm telling you - you just won't believe how shocked some Russians are when they come here and experience local healthcare. imagine coming from the country with blazing fast quality paid service to the country with free shitty lousy service, that brings you only pain (but doesn't take your money, 'cause it's illegal!)

In the USA, if your life is in Danger, Insurance companies often won't cover you (if it's too expensive) or you can't get treatment if you don't have the Cash
haha, like it's better in any way than dying waiting for surgery in yet another 9-month or 9-year waiting list.

The number one reason for bankruptcies in the USA is for Medical Bills
number one reason for death before undergoing surgery in Canada is famous Canadian waiting lists. you choose death in Canada, I choose bankruptcy in USA. to each its own.

well, event though my local stores have even better price

http://www.hltechnology.com/one_prod.php?pid=04214

this is still shitty price compared with newegg.

so what? it makes canadian $150 (with tax and/or shipping) versus newegg's $110 - a "big" difference from my original $180 vs $110, sure. still, americans have much better prices usually, no matter what you say. YOU WILL NEVER FIND ANYTHING IN CANADA FOR THE SAME PRICE AS IN USA, mostly because of canadian double sales tax, federal and provincial (alberta is the only exception to that, too bad it's a small province, one of many). this is general rule I learned by my own experience, shopping in BC, Ontario, and in several USA online stores. it has very rare exceptions, true, but they only add insult to injury :)

plus americans have pricewatch, and canadian pricenetwork.ca is useless - half of the time I had to do manual research by browsing dozens of online stores manually, just like you did with your two stores with that samsung hdd

In Canada it's full out Capitalist. But there aren't many companies competing so you're stuck paying $300/mth
exactly! this is how "capitalist" Canada is - no competition. with DSL - only ONE local company. you wanna get SEPARATE land line and DSL service? FORGET about it - if you have DSL - you MUST pay Telus for the land line even if you don't need it. same with auto insurance - just ONE company takes the premiums, hence the insane prices. just one medical service - provided by the government. just one stupid 1-year wait time before you can get your drivers license - again imposed by the government... and so on, the whole Canada is like that - this is what I call Commie Capitalism - it's a fake, and everyone here is brainwashed just like Soviet people, almost everyone in Canada believes it's The Right Thing to wait 1 year for drivers license, to pay insane premiums to just one monopolistic auto insurance company, to wait years in waiting list for a specialist appointment, to pay your local telco for your landline even if you DO NOT need it - this is how Canadians think, man, this is how YOU think too. sad, very sad. you really have to travel around the world, maybe live a bit in Russia and other European countries, experience what kind of service you can get there - you'll come back totally different. oh wait, don't do this! look at what happened with Soviet population when brainwashing stopped in early 1990s - poor bastards, I feel sorry for all of them, the WHOLE LOST GENERATION they are :-( you better stay that way, like you are now, it's easier to live when you don't know any better
