Online retailer of computer hardware and accessories
Newegg.com is officially launching today its hardware enthusiast community site
EggXpert.com. The new site, which was previously in an open beta,
allows users to discuss on PC hardware and consumer electronics through forums
and blogs.
Added since the original beta version of the site is an
official EggXpert Newsletter, a bi-weekly e-zine that compiles content written
by the users of the EggXpert forum. Also new are Editor’s Picks, where a
different forum thread and user blog are spotlighted each day as a front page
feature.
Unlike many other hardware enthusiast forums on the
Internet, EggXpert does not have an area dedicated for its members to buy, sell
and trade their computer goods. In place of a traditional marketplace section
are forums where users can discuss and inform each other of hot deals, even if
they aren’t products from Newegg.com
The front page of EggXpert also presents the opportunity for
Newegg to highlight special deals and sales of software, hardware, accessories,
peripherals, DVD movies and other electronics.
During the early stages of the site in April, the EggXpert
forum had 5,500 members who contributed to 2,444 threads and 3,674 posts. Since
then, the community has grown to over 32,000 users, 55,280 threads and 80,845 posts.
