Microsoft bulks up its Xbox 360 warranty

Microsoft has made some new changes to the Xbox 360's warranty. The last change was made back in late December when the console warranty was boosted from 90 days to a full year. The latest changes, however, should go a long way to fill in any gaps that may have been missing/lacking in the Xbox 360's warranty service.

The first new change is free shipping for consoles in and out of warranty that are sent in for repair. Microsoft will send a postage paid box to return your console to the repair center.

For in-warranty repairs, customers are given an additional 90 days of warranty or the remainder of their existing warranty (whichever is longer). Customers are still responsible for repair costs on consoles out of warranty. However, when Microsoft sends you back a repaired console it will come with a fresh one-year repair warranty.

Other warranty enhancements -- as witnessed here -- include faster repair service. Microsoft is committed to repairing and shipping your broken console within five business days. Microsoft is also adding more Xbox customer care representatives and is bulking up its on-site technical support facilities.

Not only does America walk away with the most cities on those lists (9/50 and 11/50, respectively), but the greatest American city (arguably), New York City, is used as the base.

Regardless, everyone knows that living in the city sucks compared to country livin'. :-D

LOL, you must be reading a different list.

The US doesn't even have a city in the top 20 and no, New York is not even near the top. It's just used as an index of 100 and 47 out of 50 are all higher ranked than NY.

actually no , you guys don't have to pay the premium price like we do .. XBOX 360 pro pack in Europe and Australia don't sell for 400USD but more even if you take into the high rate tax rate in to account.

The study must assume that you have a job, and you're much more likely to have a job here in these blessed United States.

Americans have the freedom to choose if they want to pay for extended warrantees. Personally, they're not often worth it for my purposes.

What are you talking about? There are two lists provided in the link. "United States" appears twenty times out of the top 99 in the world. That's much more than any other single country. And, technically, given that many cities are locked in a tie, several US cities do appear in the top 20 groupings.

I never said NYC was near the top of that list, just that it was the basis by which other cities on that list are measured. To many Americans, we consider NYC to be the greatest city in the world - regardless of what a euro-centric study finds... not that I care.

USA uber alles! LOL

Even if people disagree on the opinion we are the greatest city in the world, we are the courteous/politest city in the world according to Reader's Digest! Yes, I do live in NYC.

LOL - that's a positive spin - Best placed US city is #27 and the Big Apple is #48 :-)

Still I'm sure good and bad can be said about most places in the World. Fx. while I live in #11 on that list I'd sure like for it to be a little cheaper to live in (parking by example can cost up $5 an hour).
