Gadgets Thirty PS3 Games Available for Preorder

Gamestop wants you to play Playstation 3 games October 1st

A few days ago, Gamestop put thirty Playstation 3 games on its website for preorder.  Thirty of the titles claim availability on October 1st, 2006, with Metal Gear Solid 4 available December 1, 2006.  Unfortunately, after getting burned on a preorder XBOX 360 preorder, it will be a long time before I preorder something again from Gamestop.

Pre-order shortage was not caused by Gamestop

Microsoft was unable to supply enough Xbox 360s for the Gamestop pre-orders. Your comment about being burned by the pre-order is based on your lack of understanding of the reasons behind it.

Nope, Gamestop did keep on taking them far past what they should have. We called them "No E.T.A." pre-orders so we could get away with it. We just finished with our 129 preorders the other day. So now we sell them to walk-ins.

Gamestop couldn't fill the brick and mortar pre-orders but they sure found enough stock to make sure they could sell plenty of their $1000 bundles online. THAT is purely Gamestop's greedy fault.

If you want to blame MS for the shortages at Best Buy/Walmart or somewhere that wasn't selling the huge bundles at a different venue, go right ahead.

btw, I'm honestly not certain if BB or Walmart were or were not involved in the online bundle selling, but the point stands, regardless.

The Game Stop in my area was selling Premium systems to walk-ins for $429 before all the preorders were filled

Um, I love to hear anyone slam Gamestop but I do think you are mistaken.

They may have done with pre-orders like my store is, or they sold the systems the customers did not pick up in 48 hours.

Yes, I would not pre-order it from Gamestop. I should know, I work there. At the very least, I would not do so unless I am really early on the list. Gamestop likes to give its employees MASSIVE crap if they do not get a lot of reservations and pre-orders, so much so, employees are FIRED for low numbers. Even if they do good jobs otherwise.

So, in effect, the employees have a very valid reason to lie to you, since their job may be on the line if they do not perform.

What's funny is my circle of close friends all came to put their names on that PS3 list but I'm dead set on not getting either 360 or PS3 till both drop below $200. I thought about getting one to sell but I don't even want to bother with it.

I'd love to take preorders for the willing but if someone is undecided I won't even bother to sway them unless my boss was there ;) I've been here for too long, the pay is barely above minimum after 2 raises hence I don't even care if I'd get fired. I'd rather help people get what they want, not what the company wants them to get.

Yeah, lol, I was 4 and 1 but it was a sunday so I had a lot of people. I also stopped caring and I am sticking it out until I finish college this year.

Gamestop seems to be in a serious money crunch and may go the way of the Wherehouse.

when will the XBOX versions be ready? I'll be through some of my 360 games in eight to ten months from now :).

Metal Gear Solid 2 did not come out until a year and a half into the PS2... and Metal Gear Solid 4 has never been slated as a launch title or anything near it, im going to guess that its preorder info along with the rest is pure speculation (and speculation by badly informed marketing staff).

Preorders are silly for this very reason. Why offer a preorder for something that you can't confirm when you will actually be able to get a copy in (if ever)?

If this is any indication of what the PS3 launch titles will look like, then I'll wait. About the only games on there worth renting are gran turismo and killzone. But to each his own I guess.

so whats next...start taking pre-orders on games the minute they are started or announced

or better yet.... pre-order a game that isnt even started yet...
