World's slimmest phone measures 5.9 mm thick

Samsung Electronics today at 3GSM 2007 launched its brand new Ultra Edition II handsets. The Ultra Edition II portfolio consists of two sliders, the Ultra Edition 10.9 (U600) and the Ultra Edition 12.1 (U700); a metallic clamshell, the Ultra Edition 9.6 (U300); and a candy bar handset, the Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100). Each of these designs offers 3 megapixel cameras, high-speed web connectivity, as well as extensive multimedia and audio capabilities.

“We believe that the Samsung Ultra Edition II range completely embodies everything that today’s consumers are seeking in a mobile in terms of unique design and flawless performance,” said Geesung Choi, President of Samsung’s Telecommunication Network Business. “We believe that the striking looks, exclusive feel and slim design of these devices, combined with uncompromised performance and function, will make the Ultra Edition II range an instant attraction to business users, fashion conscious consumers and multimedia enthusiasts.”

Of all its new handsets, Samsung is most strongly emphasizing that its new lineup contains what it claims to be the slimmest phone today: the Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100), besting its big brother, the Samsung X820. The Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100) official measurements of the sporty handset are 105.5 x 50 x 5.9 mm and features a 1.93-inch TFT.

The Ultra Edition II will be released in the European Market in the first quarter of this year.

Back in May, Samsung announced that it had created the world's slimmest cell phone with the SGH-X820. That phone was 6.9mm thick, featured a 2MP camera and weighed in at 66 grams.

It's sexy because it has nice curves, form, color, and is pleasing to the eye. He's not saying he wants to put his ding dong in it.

:D Yes, eXtremely Zexy phone. Samsung knows what to manufacture. I use Ultra series 6.9mm, impatiently waiting for U100. The single thing i didn't like, the very big and "very simple" samsung logo above the screen (talking about X820, ultra series 6.9mm).
And about N.America - did you see "black charcoal" (or smth like this) on samsung global? (espesially for USA & Can. market)

OH yes the U300 is definitely a sexy phone. I am a lusting one of them as of now.

Any technology that can or does inspire lustfull feelings is sexy. Some folks aren't going to be inspired by a cell phone. For them it could be a sporty car or motorcycle.

If you would give up a night of sex for it, it might be sexy.

It's nice that it's thin, and its got some good styling, but it's lacking some major features, such as an outer display.

Also, notice how they failed to include a talk-time battery life.

Yup, did some more searching, the U300 does have an external screen.

"The Samsung U300 dubbed as Ultra Edition 9.6 is an all-metal body clamshell featuring a 3 megapixel camera, a large primary 2.2" 262K colors TFT display with a QVGA resolution and a lot smaller gray OLED external display with a resolution of 96 x 16 pixels. The Samsung U300 is also equipped with a TV-out port and the proprietary Samsung office documents reader. It has tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE network support."

I've never understood the sexiness theme. How can a cellphone be considered sexy? If I take the phone to church and show it off, does this mean I would be disrespecting the church? Remember, there nothing wrong with looking good in church; however, being sexy is not the purpose for going to church.

This person has got to be the biggest, nerdiest, geekiest dork I've seen on the forums yet.

Hardware can be ubersexy. That's why its so [H]ard
