The game that turns your living room into a concert switches developing hands
The fast-growing, widely popular, Guitar Hero franchise is rumored to be switching developer hands. The finger rhythm game, currently developed by RedOctane and published by Harmonix, is said to be making the switch to Neversoft.
It all began with rumors circulating about a release of an 80's version of the game when an undisclosed source tipped off GameDaily BIZ about the possible development switch. Though executives at Neversoft declined to comment on the rumor, the company's website has chosen to picture a split image of Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk's Project 8. Neversoft also posted links for auditions for their company. Although auditions for Guitar Hero itself is not specifically listed, GameDaily's source informed the site that the positions are for Guitar Hero III.
The question still remains as to why Harmonix plans on passing off its game to Neversoft. GameDaily reports that Guitar Hero made its way to number five of best selling games of 2006 with 1.3 million sales, selling 805,000 units alone in December.
