With CES just around the corner, prepare to be bombarded
with countless announcements from notebook manufacturers on their latest and
greatest mobile offerings. In the case of Asus, one of their new notebooks
destined for Las Vegas has made an early appearance over at Notebook Review.
The 8.8 pound, 17" (WSXGA+) desktop-replacement Asus
Z84Jp supports Intel's Core 2 Duo processors, features a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce
Go 7600 mobile GPU and can accommodate up to 4GB of DDR2 533/667MHz memory.
When it comes to I/O ports, the Z84Jp is loaded with four USB 2.0 ports, one
external SATA port, an ExpressCard slot, VGA, S-Video and HDMI port. A 7-in-1
media reader is also included as is a 2.0MP webcam and 4 speakers plus a
subwoofer.
Although pricing wasn't revealed along with the
specs/pictures, the Z84Jp will be released in mid-January complete with Windows
XP. Once Windows Vista is released on January 30, it will
also be available as an option on the notebook.
