New PDA and Smartphone's galore
UK website Windows Mobile 24/7 has come across a roadmap of HTC’s early 2007 roadmap which was originally posted on Russian website HPC.ru. Early 2007 bring four new HTC PDA and Smartphone’s. The new phones include the HTC codenames Kaiser, Elf, Wings and an unnamed update to the existing Startrek.
The new HTC Kaiser appears to be a slightly updated HTC Hermes which is sold by Cingular as the 8525. The HTC Kaiser also adds a GPS receiver. Aside from the GPS receiver the HTC Kaiser retains the 400 MHz OMAP processor, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and QVGA screen of the HTC Hermes.
On the value side of things is the new HTC Elf. This model sports a 200 MHz OMAP processor, 2.8” screen, Bluetooth and a thin design. As the HTC Elf is a value model it lacks additional features such as Wi-Fi support. There’s no mention if the HTC Elf will be 3G compatible though.
On the Smartphone side of things is the new HTC Wings. This model is based on the previously released HTC Vox. Nevertheless, the HTC Wings adds support for 3G networks and a GPS receiver. While it has a slide out QWERTY keyboard, the HTC Wings is still a Smartphone and lacks a touch screen display.
Lastly is an unnamed update to the HTC Startrek. The latest update adds a GPS receiver to the Startrek. If the update is anything similar to what the Hermes is slated to receive, all other specifications will remain the same.
It is unknown when these phones will hit the market; though expect them to arrive in Asian and European countries first.
