Excitement stirs in the Apple camp but Razor's been there
According to a report over at ThinkSecret, Apple may be on the verge of announcing a keyboard with integrated iPod docking. The details come from sources close to Apple who have identified several recent cases where Apple had sent the new prototype keyboard out to customers who were waiting for regular replacement keyboards. Customers who were waiting for their keyboards that were out for repair or replacement ended up receiving a different keyboard than what they were expecting. Integrated iPod docking was definitely not part of the original repair checklist.
Apple of course has not confirmed that such a keyboard exists as the company itself has been traditionally tight-lipped about unannounced products. DailyTech originally broke news about Apple's bluetooth Mighty Mouse. Apple officially announced the mouse a day after our initial report.
According to the original report, users who received the prototype keyboard were asked to sign non-disclosure agreements that they had received such a product. Apparently Apple would not send them the correct keyboard if the users did not sign. Interestingly, we're wondering if anyone would really want to return the prototype at all.
Razer, the manufacturer of the famous line of gaming oriented mice also has what it calls the Pro|Type Multimedia Keyboard, which has integrated iPod docking.
