3DMark06, PCMark05 and 3DMark05 now Windows Vista compatible

Futuremark today announced the availability of free updates to its benchmarking software. The free software updates allow Futuremark benchmarking applications to function in Microsoft’s Windows Vista. Three applications are updated for Windows Vista compatibility—3DMark06, PCMark05 and 3DMark05. Patches are available for existing versions of 3DMark06 and PCMark05. The patch brings 3DMark06 up to version 1.1.0 and PCMark05 up to version 1.2.0. No patch will be available for 3DMark05. Nevertheless, Futuremark offers a full download of the Windows Vista compatible 3DMark05 version 1.3.0.

While these updates allow 3DMark06, PCMark05 and 3DMark05 to work in Windows Vista, they were designed with Windows XP in mind. Nevertheless, Futuremark intends to release native Windows Vista benchmarks in 2007.

Futuremark states: "Our users, PC media and partner companies around the world have expressed enthusiasm for running our benchmarks on Windows Vista systems," said Oliver Baltuch, VP Sales and Marketing North America. "Though 3DMark06 and PCMark05 were developed for Windows XP, these Vista enabled updates will allow them to run flawlessly under Windows Vista, giving users the opportunity to measure gaming and system performance on the new operating system today. While these patches do not add support or features for the next generation DirectX, we will release completely new native Windows Vista benchmarks in 2007."

In addition to the Windows Vista compatibility, the updates to 3DMark06, PCMark05 and 3DMark05 introduce a few tweaks and compatibility updates too. The update details are as follows:

  • Improved start-up speed by optimizing the SystemInfo component;
  • Updated SystemInfo component with support for the latest CPU and graphics hardware;

  • Internet Explorer 7 compatibility;
  • Fixed Windows Media Player version detection;
  • Improved start-up speed by optimizing the SystemInfo component;
  • Updated SystemInfo component with support for the latest CPU and graphics hardware;
  • Fixes all reported & reproduced issues.
  • 3DMark05 1.3.0:
  • Internet Explorer 7 compatibility;
  • Improved start-up speed by optimizing the SystemInfo component;
  • Updated SystemInfo component with support for the latest CPU and graphics hardware;

Joining the new updates is a new online result analyzer as well. The new online result analyzer is offered on all versions of Futuremark benchmarks—free and pay versions. New features of the result analyzer include detailed analysis on what the score really means to the end user.

The software patches and full versions of 3DMark06, PCMark05 and 3DMark05 are available from Futuremark mirrors.

I've paid for all my versions of 3D mark, I build computers at home and sell 'em.
And what a person likes to see is pretty graphics running on their new computer.
I'm still dissapointed they didnt include 3Dmark 2001, that was my favorite version.
Oh well, cant get everything the way you want it...
And I never have gotten Spam either from this company! Dont see what your stressing about!
