DirectX 10 for all
Digitimes reports NVIDIA is expected to unveil G80-derived graphics processors in Q1’2007. The reported G80-derivatives are currently known as G84 and G86. Not much detail is available on the upcoming G84 and G86 at the moment except they will be entry-level and mid-range offerings. On the NVIDIA chain of products it would appear G84 and G86 will replace the current GeForce 7600 and 7300-series products.
NVIDIA partners are expected to receive samples in January or February of 2007. With G80-derivatives around the corner, NVIDIA is gearing up for a top-to-bottom DirectX 10 product lineup before ATI releases its first DirectX 10 product—R600. Current roadmaps claim the R600 will enter production in February 2007 and launch in March 2007.
Earlier this month NVIDIA released its long-awaited G80 GeForce 8800-series graphics processors. DailyTech previously explored the performance of the G80 GeForce 8800 GTX. NVIDIA’s nForce 600i series was also launched on the same day as the GeForce 8800-series. Boards based on the nForce 600i are available from ASUS, ECS, EVGA and others.
DailyTech previously reported these SKUs to launch in February of 2007. So far, this has not changed. Jen-Hsun Huang, NVIDIA CEO, later confirmed these SKUs during an investor call.
