It looks as though some stores have jumped the gun ahead of
the Zune's official November
14 launch date. The $249 player has shown up in a few stores across the
nation including a Best Buy at the Union City Landing shopping center.
Microsoft is really talking up the social aspects of the
Zune player with "Welcome to the social" plastered in big letters on
the box. Also interesting is the "Hello from Seattle" greeting imprinted
on the back of the Zune player.
Items included in the retail box are the player itself, a
soft case, USB sync/charge cable, ear buds, installation CD, instruction manual
and the 14-day free trial to Zune Marketplace that DailyTech has already discussed.
Also worthy of mention is that the Zune software struck its first blow on the populace with an installation error (see photo on
right). Some have indicated that the error was likely caused by the install
program trying to connect to Zune Marketplace which hasn't officially opened its doors. On
the other hand, other early adopters have been able to install the software
without issue.
