Hello ATI.AMD.com
AMD today announced its acquisition of ATI has been completed for an approximate $5.4 billion USD. The transaction details include a $4.3 billion cash buyout and 58 million shares of AMD common stock in exchange for all common shares of ATI. Shareholders were offered the following options:
- ATI shareholders who elected to receive cash will be entitled to receive, for each common share for which a valid cash election was made, approximately US $18.59 in cash plus approximately 0.1245 of a share of AMD common stock;
- ATI shareholders who elected to receive stock will be entitled to receive, for each common share for which a valid stock election was made, 0.9596 of a share of AMD common stock; and
- ATI shareholders who did not make a valid election will be entitled to receive, for each share for which no valid election was made, 0.9596 of a share of AMD common stock.
Quickly after the complete acquisition announcement AMD has absorbed ATI.com and transformed it into ati.amd.com. Gone are the red corporate ATI logos. Instead ATI’s website has turned green and filled with AMD logos. The website appears to remain the same as ATI’s previous website, though everything is greener. Nevertheless, ATI branding is still used on graphics and chipset products. Xilleon, Theater, NXT and Imageon products appear to have switched over to AMD branding.
This appears to fall in line with previous rumors that AMD would keep ATI and Radeon branding on consumer products. With the acquisition complete it is unknown if Intel will renew its cross licensing agreement with ATI in the future. ATI was previously working on a variety of Intel chipsets including the announced Radeon Xpress 1250 and upcoming RD600 CrossFire Xpress 3200 for Intel processors.
