Gaming PC manufacturer VoodooPC has been acquired by HP. VoodooPC founder and occasional
blogger Rahul Sood has
confirmed the acquisition in his latest heartfelt blog post
. HP was selected as an ideal strategic partner after Sood and his brother talked to various manufacturers and system OEMs including Dell. Talks of the acquisition began last July during the Tour de France in which Sood attended. The acquisition comes as a surprise as Sood never informed anyone that talks of the acquisition were taking place and remained secretive.
Sood states the reason for picking HP over other manufacturers as follows:
Even though you may not know it there is one thing about HP that makes them stand out among the rest: serious innovation. Backed by a $3.5+ billion dollar R&D budget, HP labs was generating an average of eleven unique patents a day. We’re not talking about “supply chain innovations” either; they are sitting on a treasure trove of product innovations with massive potential. For me, getting a ticket into HP Labs would be like Charlie getting a ticket to Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory. I was relentless... Yes, HP was/is the company that both my brother and I agreed is the perfect match for Voodoo.
After the acquisition is completed VoodooPC will remain the same. Its offices will remain in Calgary with the same primary focus on building customized gaming machines. As a result of the acquisition Sood will become the Chief Technologists while Ravi Sood takes a new position as Director of Strategy for HP’s gaming division.
There’s no mention on how much VoodooPC was acquired for or how this will change HP’s product portfolio
was unable to reach Rahul Sood for comments.
Alienware was acquired by Dell earlier this year as well.
A PDF of the acquisition details is
available on HP's site

These days time IS more valuable than money.
To put it more accurately, peoples' time is worth more money. Time has always been worth some amount of money (and of course it differs from person to person how much it's worth)
Everything is for sale. That's the truth about this world.
