According to Apple news website 9to5Mac, portions of code inside the leaked operating system made reference to the names of the next iPhones.

App and game developer Steven Troughton-Smith discovered the names iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X in the software and tweeted about it on Saturday.

As expected, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are to replace the current iPhone models, while the iPhone X is the premium version with an all-new design, crisper OLED screen, improved cameras, and a 3-D facial recognition scanner for unlocking the device.

The "X" in the iPhone’s name pertains to the highly anticipated 10th anniversary edition iPhone. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will look similar to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but include faster processors, Bloomberg News has reported. The new devices will be unveiled at an event on Tuesday. No official word from Apple as of yet.

Let’s see what Tuesday brings.

"Spreading the rumors, it's very easy because the people who write about Apple want that story, and you can claim its credible because you spoke to someone at Apple." -- Investment guru Jim Cramer
