Monarch Computers is now shipping X1900 stand alone cards and desktop systems featuring the new GPUs

Monarch Computers has a full lineup of Radeon X1900 graphics cards in stock on its site.  They have X1900XT, X1900XTX and X1900 CrossFire Edition cards from ATI, HSI, Connect3D and Sapphire.

Monarch Computers is also the first system builder to announce Radeon X1900 availability in its desktop computing lines. This includes the Empro, Accela, Axis, Furia, Solia, Solidus, and Versall. The new R580 based GPUs will also be available on the AMD based Adversary gaming PC and the Hornet Pro SFF PC.

With sixteen pixel pipelines and forty-eight pixel-shader processors, it looks like ATI has a real winner on their hands as gamers can now enjoy higher video quality settings as well as a boost from the clock speed of this card.

Missing Word

I think Monarch's PR team had a typo, there's a missing word in the title of the press release. It should have gone something like this: "Monarch Computers First Out the Gate with Overpriced X1900 Graphics Cards And Systems".

They want $600 for all of their X1900XT's, $50 above MSRP. Newegg meanwhile is $30 below MSRP for one of the cards, and I don't think there's a quality difference that can possibly explain the massive price delta.

I think we're forgetting simple supply+demand and the fact that a retailer can charge as much as it likes. (or rather as much as someone will pay)

Why promoting Monarch?

I found x1900s available as options on Alienware machines first thing this morning - it's what I did to check the claim of a hard launch I was reading on all the reviews.

So, why the plug for Monarch machines?? Hmmm?
Is Dailytech now accpeting money to "feature" certain brands as news items - i.e. specifically what Anandtech claims to disdain.

Personally I think that Voodoo PC announced that they would have the X1900 in "desktop computing lines" first. From Rahul's Blog...
quote:
If you visit the Voodoo website now you are able to choose from a fully decked out Crossfire or SLI configuration on our flagship systems.
That was last Friday. Plus Voodoo's PCs look better too.
