New Windows Mobile 5.0 pocket PC phone and Smartphones
has come across a roadmap outlining HTC’s 2006 product offerings (WARNING: the site may contain images that are inappropriate to view at work -- the direct link is

previously reported on HTC’s TyTN and MTeoR Windows Mobile 5.0 based phones
which are outlined in HTC’s 2006 roadmap. Other upcoming products include the Artemis, Excalibur, Melody, Oxygen and Trinity.
HTC’s Artemis, Melody and Trinity are Windows Mobile 5.0 powered pocket PC phones. The HTC Artemis and Melody have identical specifications. Both models are equipped with a 2.8” QVGA touch screen LCD, 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM and a Texas Instruments OMAP 850 processor clocked at 200 MHz. Wireless features include EDGE, GSM, GPRS, Bluetooth and 802.11b/g. The phones are quad-band and compatible with 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies. A 2 mega pixel camera and FM radio is also integrated. Both phones have a mini SD slot for memory expansion. In addition to the design and form factor differences the HTC Artemis also has built-in GPS.
The HTC Trinity is a different product, though still powered by Windows Mobile 5.0. It comes equipped with a 2.8” QVGA touch screen LCD, 128MB ROM and 64MB RAM. Powering the HTC Trinity is a Samsung processor clocked at 400 MHz. Wireless features include HSDPA, EDGE, GPRS, Bluetooth, infrared and 802.11b/g. WCDMA tri-band and GSM quad-band cellular protocols are supported. WCDMA 2100, 850 1900, GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies are supported with the HTC Trinity. HTC has equipped the Trinity with two cameras—a 2 mega pixel camera for general use and a second VGA camera for video conferencing. Other notable features include GPS/AGPS and a mini SD memory slot.
In addition to the Windows Mobile 5.0 powered pocket PC phones HTC has two upcoming Smartphone’s too. HTC’s Excalibur and Oxygen are two very different phones, though both are powered by Windows Mobile 5.0. The HTC Excalibur sports a design that resembles a BlackBerry with a miniature QWERTY keyboard. It has a 2.4” 320x240 LCD display with 128MB ROM and 64MB RAM. Powering the HTC Excalibur is a Texas Instruments OMAP 850 clocked at 200 MHz. Wireless EDGE, GPRS, Bluetooth and 802.11b/g protocols are supported. As far as cellular networks go the Excalibur is a quad-band GSM phone with support for 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies. A 1.3 mega pixel camera and microSD memory slot are also featured on the HTC Excalibur.
Last on the HTC 2006 product roadmap is the Oxygen Smartphone. It’s equipped with a fairly sized 2.0” 176x220 LCD display, 64MB ROM and 64MB RAM. Powering the Oxygen is the same Texas Instruments OMAP 850 clocked at 200 MHz found in Artemis, Melody and Excalibur. Wireless EDGE, GPRS and Bluetooth protocols are supported. GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 frequencies are supported. The Oxygen does not support wireless 802.11b/g disappointingly. Like the HTC Excalibur, the Oxygen has a 1.3 mega pixel camera and microSD expansion slot.
HTC’s Artemis, Trinity, Excalibur and Oxygen are expected to arrive later this quarter while the Melody is expected in Q4’2006. US and cellular provider availability is unknown, though Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon all offer HTC products.
