Minor graphical revisions are observed in leaked image

It's not much of a revelation, but a new leak reveals a handful of details about Google Inc.'s (GOOG) upcoming 'L' build of Android, which may be released either at Google I/O 2014 (which starts tomorrow, running June 25-26).
Redditors spotted a screenshot in the Chromium Issue Tracker, which showed a mysterious 'L' in the upper left-hand corner.  Notably, past debugging versions of Android carried a symbol in the upper left-hand corner, such as this pie-slice icon (with antenna) for Key Lime Pie:

Here's the leaked image in Portrait Mode vs. Android 4.4 "KitKat":

Here it is in landscape mode:

...adding to the belief that it might be authentic, the images were taken down shortly after being posted, as the Reddit thread picked up steam.  Note, the bug being reported was the app (Chrome, it appears) not properly switching to landscape layout when the phone is held in landscape mode.
A few things to take note of:
  • Chrome Browser
    • Subtle border around app to give it a "floating" look
    • Icon for https has flattened, been made darker
  • Notifications Bar
    • New icon for mute, adopted from the Chrome browser's bell icon
    • No gradient
  • Navigation Soft Button Bar
    • Floats over active app
    • Has black back, which crops your background
Some of the names proposed for Android 'L' include:
  • Lemonheads/Lemondrops
  • Lemon Bars
  • Lemon meringue, etc.
  • Licorice
  • Lollipop
  • Layercake
  • Laffy Taffy
  • Ladyfingers
The fact that there's such a basic bug in Chrome and the fact that there's no wireless indicator (which implies the screenshots may come from a Wi-Fi only test platform device or even an emulator build) suggests that we may not actually see Android 'L' at Google I/O.  Previous rumors had pointed to a Q4 2014 release, so don't get your hopes up.

Last year's Google I/O event saw no new release of Android, breaking of run of releases at the event in previous years (e.g. Android "Jelly Bean" (4.1) at Google I/O 2012).  Android KitKat (4.4) launched in Oct. 2013.  Google is rumored to be preparing a flatter icon pack for the GUI in its upcoming Android 'L' release.  That pack is rumored to be codenamed "Moonshine".
