What I fail to understand is why it's a device specific app at all. Why not write a single web interface that will work with practically every device under the sun? If you want to put some fancy device specific trimmings on it and call it app, fine, but I want something I could control through my PC (and especially something I could control with an automated script.)
The WeMo outlets have a web interface, so chalk one up for Belkin. And an API that can be used for automated scripting.
