For those that like to keep close tabs on energy usage or even have the ability to power on/off a device from anywhere, D-Link has just introduced a new solution to service your needs.
The Wi-Fi Smart Plug (DSP-W215) plugs into a single wall outlet and gives your control over one powered device. Using the mydlink app — which works on
devices (sorry, Windows Phone users) — energy-conscious individuals can set schedules to turn on/off any electronics device or appliance, and even monitor energy usage remotely.

The Wi-Fi Smart Plug includes Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) to make setup easy and also offers overheat protection just in case any of your devices get a little hot under the collar.

Yep, and then your fan will be hacked and taken control of. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Got to love all of this "convenience" of having everything on the internet.

Even in that unlikely scenario, what possible harm could come to you from your fan getting hacked?
