If you don't like iOS 7, you really won't like OS X 10.10

Apple’s iOS 7 mobile operating system, which is said to have received design direction from Jony Ive, has been met with a lot of criticism since sits release nearly a year ago. IOS 7 marked the biggest overhaul of iOS since its introduction in 2007 and did away with a lot of the skeuomorphism that users became accustomed to over the years (doing away with discernible “buttons” within core apps was enough to infuriate many users).

In an effort to further align its mobile and PC operating systems, Apple is set to give OS X an iOS 7-centric update this year according to 9to5 Mac. For those out there that love iOS 7, the change will no doubt be welcome. However, for iOS 7 detractors, it may be time to bring out the pitchforks.

OS X 10.10 will be previewed next month at WWDC 14

OS X 10.10 will reportedly be an “end-to-end redesign” and the most significant visual change to Apple’s flagship operating system since OS X was originally released over a decade ago:

The new look will have similar toggle designs to iOS 7, sharper window corners, more defined icons across the system, and more white space than the current version.

The overhaul is said to be so drastic and exhaustive that Apple is said to be pulling employees from iOS 8 development to finish OS X 10.10.

As for iOS 8, we’ve already learned that Apple will add Shazam functionality to Siri. There have also been frequent rumors that a new Healthbook app will be included to tackle health monitoring. But 9to5 Mac also indicates that Maps will be updated to include integrated public transit directions, iTunes Radio will get its own separate app (instead of being integrated into the Music app), and there will be support include for VoLTE.

IOS 8 will also likely continue Apple’s efforts to prod developers to optimize for 64-bit processors — Apple first introduced 64-bit into the mix via the A7 processor and the upcoming A8 will continue those efforts.

Looks like the fruity cargo cult is back peddling and becoming even more hypocritical. Guess who was bashing MS over this very thing ? Hint: Not Lord Jobs but his Messiah.

Apple is full of this, it is nothing new and the fanatics will never admit it, remember 3.5 inch screens are perfect and anything bigger is a waste.

Do you often get so angry about unsubstantiated rumors, if so you need to be careful about your health.

I know this is going to be to difficult for you to grasp but you really will have to concentrate. There is a difference in operating systems between the structure of functionality and UI's graphic design. All PCs work pretty much the same nowadays when it comes to the structure of functionality, they are all mouse, windows, icons systems (WIMPS). That does not mean they all like alike or that they all work equally well.

What Microsoft did was make a weird hybrid OS that tried to combine the functionality of a touch based UI with the functionality of a desktop UI. The result was a mess that made using it as either a touch system or as a desktop system sub par. Microsoft did this as perhaps it's last (failed) attempt to use Windows and it's domination of the desktop PC market as a lever to try to get some traction in the mobile device markets.

Given all the statements on this very issue that have been made by the Apple leadership team I do not expect that Apple will make a similar mistake. I doubt that it will, What I do think might happen is that there will be a makeover of the Aqua design theme which may take design cues from iOS.

If at some point Apple works out a way to deliver a combined touch/desktop WIMP without it being a dogs dinner it may do so, if anyone could pull that off it would be Apple, but I am not holding my breath.

Let me guess, this is taken out of context like the artist stealing thing huh ? Anything to make your precious look even prettier. Both are well documented yet the Macolytes can't seem to comprehend that their Lords have said such blasphemy.
