Fisker is looking fr a CEO and a new HQ

Fisker was one of the high-profile failures of the Advanced Technology Loan program operated by the U.S. government. The company made a handful of Karma hybrid vehicles and then filed for bankruptcy. A judge overseeing the cars ordered the bankrupt Fisker to hold a competitive auction for the assets remaining, with the winning bid going to a Chinese company.
Wanxiang, the new owner of Fisker, is a Chinese auto parts conglomerate and it has announced plans to relaunch the Karma by mid-2015. The company says that a second Fisker model, the station wagon-style Surf, could ship in 2016. A cheaper, smaller car called the Atlantic is also being considered for production in 2017.

“We don’t know if we would keep Fisker Automotive as the company (name),” said Roger Brown, interim President for Fisker. “The cars are the rock stars.”
Fisker received lots of bad press and it would be understandable if the new owners wanted to rename the company. Before the cars can go back into production, the company has to set up a new headquarters and decide where the cars will be produced.

“Wanxiang is not flashy. They bought this company, they paid cash for it, they don’t put any debt on their company and they execute,” Brown added. “They didn’t buy the company to export the technology to China. ... They bought it because they want to build a great car company.”
Brown is currently leading a small team of 25 workers, who are the only people not laid off by Fisker a year ago.

Best wishes to the new owners.

Any successful business, cannot succeed when there is US Government meddling IMO.

Bad management team is also a huge factor, but you cannot discount the US Government's involvement.

Looking forward to seeing them on the road.

What government meddling? A loan, that the government never fully paid out because Fisker didn't meet the conditions? Please, don't rewrite history unless you have a source that no one else has seen. Fisker imploded because of bad management, period.

Fisker's decline went beyond just bad management. They designers/engineers didn't have the eye for detail that is needed for a car startup, probably because the contracted out so much the engineering.

Their touchscreen UI was awful. The panel gaps were unfitting for a car this expensive. The performance was lacking for a 400hp car (even considering the weight). The electrical system caused fires. They got the hard stuff right, like exterior/interior design and chassis/handling, but you have be almost perfect to start a new car company.

Yeah a loan given, and recklessly pushed by green movement progressive executive branch government types but paid without consent by the taxpayer.

I don't care if they are successful or not. Let private investors such as venture capitalists or an angel voluntarily carry the risks. Not photo op/vote hunting politicians with reckless agendas that seem only inspired to do "good" when it's the taxpayer's money and not their own.

If that happened then good...I don't want money being wasted on companies run badly like Fisker that aren't even American based.

The rhetoric privileged white men use to talk about government waste is hilarious.

In other news, we spend billions to stop terrorism, and more Americans have died to Police brutality since 9/11 then all terrorist attacks combined...

littlebitstrouds, your racist outburst is misguided beyond recovery.
First of all, please before you incite, cite. You make a robust claim about capital-P police brutality that is probably just bust.
Furthermore, not all anti-terrorism efforts are wasteful nor sponsored by whites, privileged men, or even. Even Americans for that matter. Many non-privileged middle eastern women would like to live in a world free of terrorism as well.

Besides, this is completely off-topic.

I love how being oppressed by rich men, and calling them out on it, gets that kind of outburst.

You see, I shouldn't have to provide countless links to domestic brutality, when the argument has been around for so long. Just like most issues from the 70's that you people hold on to, I'm not waiting for you to catch up anymore.

Don't even bring women into the argument. Cause I don't have to go to middle east oppression to get it. It's happening here too. 1 in 5 women in America are victims of sexual or physical abuse.
