Bluetooth Mighty Mouse

A look on the inside
More product releases from Apple

Apple has submitted a filing with the FCC for the Bluetooth version of its single-button right-clickable mouse, the Mighty Mouse. The new mouse will be exactly the same as the current Mighty Mouse except for its wireless feature. The mouse comes with a single button that does both left-click and right-click duties. One omni-directional pointing ball in the middle allows you to scroll in any direction.

The new Mighty Mouse uses two standard AA batteries and will be compatible with OS X 10.4.6 and later. Some users reported that the Mighty Mouse had some issues with right clicking, and often times the single fat button would click both sides of the mouse. It is unclear whether or not this has been addressed.

No release date is set for the new Bluetooth Mighty Mouse -- currently codenamed M6, but judging from the FCC filing, the new mouse is expected to be announced during Apple's WWDC conference during August 7th to 11th. Apple is also expected to make an announcement about its upcoming pro-level desktops -- speculated to be called the Mac Pro -- as well as server platforms based on Intel's Woodcrest Xeon processors during WWDC.

Is it just me or do all of Apples peripherals look more like plastic sex toys than PC components?

LOL, its true... What they lack is force feedback ;)

They should really take a page from Logitech. Mine has 10 buttons each assignable to whatever I like.

*looks at >100 'button' keyboard right next to mouse, that hands are on most of the time.

Actually, I've used the mighty mouse. It might not look like much, but it's quite usable - 4 buttons and a trackball style scroller. Buttons 3 and 4 default to exposé and dashboard, but all buttons are assignable in the OS.

However Apple's bluetooth mice suck.

And at $69 it's at wonderful bargain Apple pricing.

I guess they've updated the tracking to be laser tracking instead of standard optical tracking however.

Problem is...
Apple charges extra for lubricant. :-)

I thought the same exact thing... it looks like the wireless egg I got my Ex-GF while we were dating.

Does Apple's vibrate also? :-D

I bet she wouldn't be an ex, if you worried more about your performance and less about getting her an "egg" ;-)
