SimCity gamers got the news of
an offline option
back in January, and today, that mode is finally available.
, Update 10 with Offline Play was installed at 6 a.m. PDT this morning. This resulted in some server downtime, but they were up and running again at 10 a.m. PDT.

In Update 10, SimCity gamers can now log into their cities with all of the previously downloaded content available to them. The online game remains the same, but there will now be a single player mode that allows you to play offline on your own. This means gamers can just save and load the game instead of using the cloud auto-saving feature.
This is great news for SimCity gamers that have asked for an offline option ever since Electronic Arts (EA) released the
game in 2013

Not entirely. True, AAA games have declined in quality as the market for games became bigger. The more people gaming, the more stupid people gaming, the more the games will have to take those stupid people into account. Once the barrier to entry is lowered, the bar of exceptionalism is lowered as well. The harder something is to do the more exceptional things that can be done with it.
The indiegame market has seen the reverse happen. I can't recall any indie games from 10 years ago, atleast none that where exceptional. To put it another way, Not a single top-10 list from years ago will find an indie game in it. Simply because the market for those was so small, so the games so outlandish, that they where niche by definition.
Today it's quite different. Games like Bastion, Amnesia, Trine, The Stanley parable, Torchlight, Skullgirls, Shadow Warrior to name just a few are certainly AA worthy (in the case of shadow warrior maybe even AAA). Mainly because those previously niche markets have now gotten so large catering to them is pretty viable. Also tools like Unity or UDK are available to indie devs to make games look and play better while digital distribution like Steam has matured to give offer said games to a large enough audience (letting people know the game exists is half the battle).
Regardless of how smart or stupid humankind is as an average, the elite will always demand content as much as the general populace will. Great games will never go away, just the place where you would look for them changes.
I will admit though; it's incredibly frustrating to see franchises you know and love get dumbed down. But then again, those always aimed for the biggest market. The only thing that changed was us; instead of being the biggest market we're now just the niche. *sigh* ohwell that's life i guess.
Now i'm off to play Thief 4. I know it won't end well, but i played all previous ones so by god i will play this one, wether i like it or not.

Well right. You can play "intelligent" and challenging games, just most of the time they are independent or user made. In fact, I spend a lot of my gaming time playing mods of existing games, be it Falcon BMS or Freespace 2 (and the MULTITUDE of total conversions for it like Wings of Dawn, The Antagonist, Dimensional Eclipse, Wing Commander Saga, Blue Planet).
It's sad though we have to go indie or user-made to get what we want.
