Motorola brings its "A game" to smartwatch design

We just reported earlier today that Google is going full steam ahead with wearable devices thanks to its Android Wear operating system. We’ve already seen LG’s rather bland offering with the G Watch, and now it’s Motorola’s turn.

We’re just gonna go ahead and say it — the Moto 360 blows the G Watch out of the water when it comes to esthetics. The smartwatch features a circular LCD that can display traditional analog or digital watch faces. It’s actually the first smartwatch that actually looks like a real watch that regular human beings would want to wear.

Motorola describes the device, stating:

Moto 360 keeps you on time and up to date without taking you out of the moment or distracting you, telling you what you need to know before you know you need it through subtle alerts and notifications. With just a twist of the wrist you can see who’s emailing or calling, what time your next meeting is or a friend’s latest social post...

Most importantly, Moto 360’s iconic design, featuring a round face and premium materials, feels comfortable and familiar on your wrist. It’s everything you need, with a look that you want.

Motorola is giving away much when it comes to specs (we do know, however, that it will be available this summer), but you can watch the video above and peruse over the pictures below.

Looks more like a watch...

but no one wears watches anymore. Maybe this appeals to aging baby-boomers who harbor some nostalgia for Dick Tracy.

To everyone else, it's a dumb idea.

Like was said before their is pretty good potential for people keeping track of their workouts. Personally for cycling though I would rather have something like google glasses linked to my smartphone. It would be nice to have Heart rate, speed, elapsed time, grade, etc on a Oakley blade style heads up display.

a fairly good amount of people wear watches, although way less than in the past because many get used to looking at the phone from the get-go.

It begs the question though: if so many young people stopped wanting a watch because they can just take their phone out of the pocket, how will they be compelled to buy a watch to not have to take the phone out of their pocket to read a text?

It has to have a PR of 50+ & an ability to fit a mini sim would be epic on a shared plan
