Walmart announces game trade-in program and certified pre-owned game sales
Walmart has announced that it will allow gamers to sell used games back to Walmart and to purchase “Certified Pre-Owned” games. The game trade in program will launch on March 26.
“Gaming continues to be an important business for us and we’re actively taking aim at the $2 billion pre-owned video game opportunity,” said Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising and marketing officer for Walmart U.S.
“When we disrupt markets and compete, our customer wins. They’ll save money on video games and have the flexibility to spend it however they want.”
Walmart says that gamers who sell their used games back to it will get immediate credit for their games and will be able to use the in-store credit to purchase anything from Walmart or Sam's Club locations (in-store or online).
The games will have to be in the original packaging and taken to the electronics department. The associate will scan the UPC code and check the game for damage like cracks or scratches. The seller will be made an offer for the game and a credit issued if the offer is accepted.
The trade-in program will be available at over 3,100 stores across the nation. Sales of Certified Pre-Owned games will begin at a later date; perhaps after Walmart is able to accumulate enough of an inventory of trade-ins from customers.

Between this and digital distribution, I wouldn't want to own Gamestop stock right now.
