He's heading to Sonos

Microsoft is saying goodbye to yet another executive.

According to Xbox Wire, Chief Product Officer of Xbox Marc Whitten is leaving the company after joining the Xbox team in 2000. He's reportedly moving on to become Chief Product Officer of Sonos.

“I have had the extreme pleasure over the last 14 years to work on the greatest product with the greatest team and for the greatest community,” said Whitten. “Xbox is so special because of the amazing team I’ve had the opportunity to work with and because our fans are the most incredible fans on the planet. It has been the highlight of my career to work on a product so loved. It’s incredibly tough to leave but I am confident the best days are ahead for Xbox fans, in the capable hands of a very talented team.”

Whitten's team will now report to Terry Myerson, executive vice president responsible for the teams that build software platforms and experiences for Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox.
Back in January, Corporate VP of Microsoft’s Media and Entertainment Group Blair Westlake resigned after a decade spent with the company. He reportedly left because of the latest restructuring efforts.
Many other executives outside of Xbox have resigned or have been reassigned new roles in recent months. Just recently, Tony Bates and Tami Reller left Microsoft. Bates was the former Skype CEO in charge of Microsoft's business development and Reller was the co-head of Microsoft's Windows unit.

You're an idiot. Stop reading NeoGAF. Both of these consoles are obsolete from a pure silicon perspective. What's going to keep these consoles alive is the quality of the content and the capabilities outside of gaming. This is where Xbox One shines. Due to the design choices Microsoft made, Xbox One is better positioned to evolve and adapt to whatever trends and shifts happen in the media space. Sony will be stuck with their bland, boring SmartTV OS until their next console.

Who read neogaf? It doesn't matter if they are obsolete, it matters that Microsoft knowing they were going to be at a price disadvantage by including Kinect, didn't bother to figure out if they were going to be at a performance disadvantage as well.

$100 more, less powerful is not a good thing to be when you are trying to sell a new console. Not matching or besting Sony on performance was a screw up, which the sales have shown. The actual difference does not matter. Whenever a new game arrives all the sites will immediately test for resolution, place it up on the review and the plants and fanboys will take it from there.

my xbox one is great. My ps4 is great. Why are you bashing one console over another?
xbox one actually have a much more enjoyable apps and games. Xbox fitness is awesome. Just dance 2014 is a great party game without holding the stupid stick like the playstation version. The voice commands make watching TV and media apps much more enjoyable.

PS4 killzone is good. I'm waiting for Division, Second Son and some good RPG. The interface and app selection is bland compared to xbox one. BF4 seems to work better on PS4 although it crashes like crazy on both.

Sorry but bashing one over the other is retarded. Xbox is a more rounded package of everything. PS4 does really well at its core as a console. If they are both the same price, I would pick the xbox one simply because it has many useful apps that keeps my gf busy and good party games.
