He's heading to Sonos

Microsoft is saying goodbye to yet another executive.

According to Xbox Wire, Chief Product Officer of Xbox Marc Whitten is leaving the company after joining the Xbox team in 2000. He's reportedly moving on to become Chief Product Officer of Sonos.

“I have had the extreme pleasure over the last 14 years to work on the greatest product with the greatest team and for the greatest community,” said Whitten. “Xbox is so special because of the amazing team I’ve had the opportunity to work with and because our fans are the most incredible fans on the planet. It has been the highlight of my career to work on a product so loved. It’s incredibly tough to leave but I am confident the best days are ahead for Xbox fans, in the capable hands of a very talented team.”

Whitten's team will now report to Terry Myerson, executive vice president responsible for the teams that build software platforms and experiences for Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox. 
 
Back in January, Corporate VP of Microsoft’s Media and Entertainment Group Blair Westlake resigned after a decade spent with the company. He reportedly left because of the latest restructuring efforts.
 
Many other executives outside of Xbox have resigned or have been reassigned new roles in recent months. Just recently, Tony Bates and Tami Reller left Microsoft. Bates was the former Skype CEO in charge of Microsoft's business development and Reller was the co-head of Microsoft's Windows unit.

So why did Sony lie about Killzone? They claim it is 1080p, but in multiplayer it drops to 900p.

Nah, this is very, very ill-informed.

In multiplayer, the image is

1920x1080 with a vertical interlace, so every frame is 960x1080 odd lines, then even (yes, vertical, not horizontal like normal interlacing!).

This, in still images, gives an identical appearance to 1920x1080, but in motion can give a slightly softer appearance, but the gui elements will still be pin sharp as they aren't changing.

I don't know if and when they lied - I've read long ago that Killzone will run 1080p/30fps in single player and 900p/60fps in multiplayer.

Considering early stage of developer kits, video drivers AND developers' experience with new architecture - Guerrilla Games hasn't developed game for x86 architecture since 2004 (Shellshock), everything they did after was for PS2/PSP/PS3/Vita "exotic" hardware platforms - I'm sure there is much more performance in this hardware that developers will be unleashing in the future.

Or, look at it this way. My gaming PC is still running ATI 6870 with 1GB GDDR5. Main reason I haven't replaced graphics yet is that on my 1080p monitor, everything I have recently played (or at least tried) will run fine @ 1080p in high settings without AA and with some textures limitations (due to 1GB of available memory). Older games will run ultra settings with AA no problem.

Switching to PS4's graphics which are claimed to be somewhere between 7850 and 7870, once games get proper optimization - and we know console games development reasonably quickly evolves to that stage as a general rule - there's no reason why anything currently available should not be able to run 1080p/60fps.
