Microsoft officially launches its 64GB, LTE Surface 2

We reported last week that Microsoft had plans to introduce an LTE version of its underdog Surface 2 tablet. Today, Microsoft confirmed those plans, and officially announced the 64GB tablet that is currently tied to AT&T’s LTE network.
According to Panos Panay, Corporate VP for Microsoft Surface, LTE connectivity has been a much-requested addition to the Surface 2. “Many of you have told me that you’d like the capability to be online, even when Wi-Fi isn’t available, so you can work, play, share, and communicate wherever you are,” said Panos in a blog post.
“In simple terms, we are CONTINUOUSLY being asked for a Surface that allows you to use mobile broadband.”

As previously reported, the LTE version of the Surface 2 commands a $130 price premium over its W-Fi-only sibling, making for a price tag of $679.
Microsoft says that its latest tablet will be available starting March 18 from Best Buy/ and Microsoft Retail Stores/

I picked up my dell V8 Pro for $200 and the Surface Pro (First Gen) for $500 on sale. I think you can get them for 600$ even now which is still a better deal than a 650$ RT tablet. I use the Pro as an ultra-lite with minor tablet use. The dell I use primarily as a tablet and @ $200 its much cheaper/better than RT. Even if you dont use the desktop or traditional applications on it.

The combination of baytrail and lackluster sales driving down the price of 8 has all but killed the RT market.
