They're $1.99 and $9.99 per month respectively

Google is heating up the online storage competition by slashing some of its Google Drive prices.

According to Google's official blog, the company is cutting the price of its monthly 100GB plan from $4.99 to $1.99, and is majorly slashing the price of its 1TB plan from $49.99 to only $9.99 per month.

The 15GB plan remains free, while 10TB is $99.99 per month, 20TB is $199.99 per month and 30TB is $299.99 monthly.

These are some great deals, considering Google Drive competitor Dropbox charges $9.99 per month for 100GB.

"Having launched Google Drive just two years ago, we’re excited that so many people are now using it as their go-to place for keeping all their files," said  Scott Johnston, Director of Product Management at Google. "Today, thanks to a number of recent infrastructure improvements, we’re able to make it more affordable for you to keep everything safe and easy to reach on any device, from anywhere."

You cited three examples. I can find millions of examples of people who lost all their data stored on their PC or hard drive or thumb drive. Are you serious?

Also you conveniently didn't include any Google Drive examples, or ANY paid services that specialize in cloud data storage.

Im sorry I have to be that descriptive for you to get it.

And I'm sorry you can't see the advantages of cloud storage and had to post something as mind-numbingly stupid as "why use cloud storage?"

For critical info I have 3.

Ha! I know about your super secret 4'th USB drive. You know, the one shoved up your ass.

You like picturing something up my anus dont you? Not judging you to each their own.

But your useless a complete waste of bits and bandwidth.

I would have to drop my USB in a toilet, and have my house burn down taking out my PC and router drive, and in numerous posts I mention how I would use offsite storage as well but as you can see many people dont want thier critical data in the cloud especially consumer grade cloud services.

I deal with talking about corporate cloud services all the time and its business grade level not your dopey consumer grade level. Its very very good however in some cases they cant guarantee your data wont reside outside the states and that runs me into legal issues for user data and international encryption levels and FCC regulations but they can govern that now. So trust in cloud is increasing.

But Im sure your just posting to try and roast my nuts.

Cloud Computing Users Are Losing Data, Symantec Finds
Investors Business Daily
January 16, 2013 3:55 PM

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/cloud-computing-user...

Cloud computing is a ticket to losing data for two in five companies, a new study finds.

"It's really kind of astounding," said Dave Elliott, a cloud marketing manager at storage and security company Symantec (SYMC). The company polled more than 3,200 organizations to gauge hidden costs of the cloud and ways to mitigate problems.

" Forty-three percent of respondents have lost data in the cloud and have had to recover from backups ," Elliott said. And the recovery process has failed at least once for most.

Many cloud services lost data. Not google.

I can tell you my employer switched to google last year. We have not lost any data so far. Not only is it faster, more convenient and simpler, it is extremely reliable.

As a personal cloud and productivity/email suite, $2/Mo is very cheap for 100GB and probably the most reliable cloud service around.

Oh I'm sure Mitch will find a link where someone somewhere lost data on Google Drive, and say you're wrong.

I've been using Google Drive for years. In my experience it beats juggling three USB drives around or whatever.

Yeah like I haven't heard that three or four times now. How long did that "I'm quitting DT" stint last, two weeks?
