They're $1.99 and $9.99 per month respectively

Google is heating up the online storage competition by slashing some of its Google Drive prices.

According to Google's official blog, the company is cutting the price of its monthly 100GB plan from $4.99 to $1.99, and is majorly slashing the price of its 1TB plan from $49.99 to only $9.99 per month.

The 15GB plan remains free, while 10TB is $99.99 per month, 20TB is $199.99 per month and 30TB is $299.99 monthly.

These are some great deals, considering Google Drive competitor Dropbox charges $9.99 per month for 100GB.

"Having launched Google Drive just two years ago, we’re excited that so many people are now using it as their go-to place for keeping all their files," said  Scott Johnston, Director of Product Management at Google. "Today, thanks to a number of recent infrastructure improvements, we’re able to make it more affordable for you to keep everything safe and easy to reach on any device, from anywhere."

Can't do it

The cheaper and more available these services get, the more I see Google morph from a beloved friend to a monster who is hungry for all my data. Hack Google and you can know, pretty much everything about me. NSA gets a backdoor into Google and suddenly they also know everything about me... and my clients... and the clients of my clients, etc.

And we thought that Facebook was bad.

As if they don't already? You can't be this naive?

It's cute that you still think the NSA doesn't already know everything about you...

You're worried about Google Drive backdoors when the NSA is all up in your Windows installation and every byte that goes through your ISP..

Who says I'm using Windows? Who says that NSA actually has a backdoor into any Windows install? Who says that my data is un-encrypted when I'm running on the web or transferring files to my servers?

All of those would be a lot of places to look for data and you would have to combat multiple levels of encryption and difficulties to get data regarding me. If I used Google Drive for storage though, it would be a one-stop shop.
