BlackBerry CEO pokes fun at the iPhone's battery life

BlackBerry's CEO recently called iPhone users "wall huggers" in a jab at the device's battery life. 
 
According to Yahoo, BlackBerry CEO John Chen called the iPhone out for what he sees as subpar battery life when asked about Apple's popularity at the Oasis Montgomery conference in Santa Monica, California last week. 
 
“I call you guys wall huggers,” said Chen, who was referring to iPhone users that constantly search for wall outlets because their phones' batteries die before the end of the day. 
 
But the comment seemed to be in good fun, as Chen also joked that he left Silver Lake to become BlackBerry's CEO so that he could wake up and worry every day. 
 
“And I have fulfilled my dream,” said Chen. 
 
Chen was also recently quoted saying that he'd sell BlackBerry Messenger for $19 billion, referring to Facebook's acquisition of WhatsApp for the same price. 
 
The outspoken CEO also went after T-Mobile when the wireless carrier offered a promotion that gave BlackBerry users $200 to trade in their device for a new phone of their choice. The promotion, which ended March 5, resulted in 94 percent of users trading in old BlackBerry phones for devices made by rivals, such as the iPhone.

Chen called the promotion "inappropriate and ill-conceived."

But T-Mobile CEO John Legere was quick to take a jab at BlackBerry, suggesting that the Canadian company is outdated (and apparently, so is its devices).

"Was going to engage John Chen on Twitter, but turns out he's not here. I'll check MySpace. Don't worry @BlackBerry Something in the works!" wrote Legere on Twitter. 

Last year, BlackBerry had a full year net loss of $5.4 billion USD on revenue of $8.6 billion USD. It's latest operating system and line of devices -- BlackBerry 10 (BB10) -- had largely flopped as well.

Overall, BlackBerry devices represented less than 1 percent of global smartphone shipped in the final quarter of last year.

But Chen remains positive and is looking to turn his company around. Chen -- BlackBerry's third CEO in just two years -- said he will focus on the enterprise once again, which is what BlackBerry has traditionally done best. He has also put Foxconn in charge of hardware manufacturing, which lessens the company's load.

"Any publicity is good publicity? Something like that. If people aren't talking about your products, they will fade, and that's been happening with BB."

That is true in entertainment, not manufacturing. All this does is make it look like he is bitter because of the abysmal sales. It looks like no-one is buying and he is trying to "make a case" for people to buy. It wont do anything buy turn even more people off.
