Pics claim to be of the Galaxy S5

One of the most anticipated launches that is happening at MWC 2014 is the Galaxy S5 smartphone from Samsung. Ahead of the official launch of the device, new images have leaked online.

The leaked images show that the smartphone has a physical button on the front. The person who leaked the images also says that the TouchWiz interface on the device is not a major overhaul compared to the previous version.

The photos do confirm a fingerprint scanner, which can be used with PayPal to authorize payments within the browser. Other specs tipped by the leak include a 16MP camera and IP67 dust and water resistance.

The phone will reportedly come with a 1440x2560 display, 32GB or 64GB of storage, and will also be available with two different processors including an Exynos 6 or a Snapdragon 805 according to the source. The phone is also tipped to get a 3.2MP front camera. Power comes from a 3200 mAh internal battery.
Samsung is scheduled to officially launch the Galaxy S5 later today. You can view quite a few more picture of the Galaxy S5 over at TechCrunch.

We don't put our monitors a foot from our face though. You'll still benefit from this res because of viewing distance.

And I agree completely. Samsung knows what its customers want. A solid Galaxy refresh is exactly what's needed, not a radical departure.

I find the opposite is true. Res is far more useful on a monitor than on a phone. A 30 inch 2560x1440 means I can have more on screen at once, whether it means more windows open, or a larger field of view in a game. Past 1080p on a phone, I don't really see much point.

I'm talking about image quality vs viewing distance. Not sure what you're on about. This isn't a monitor vs phone thing.

Phones aren't going to just stay at 1080p. Honestly what are you guys thinking?

Honestly my monitor is about the same distance from my face as my phone typically is when I'm looking at it. If anything my monitor is closer as my phone is at my hip. Are you trying to wear your phone like an Oculus Rift or have you developed some sort of imitation to Google Glass out of glasses frames and epoxy?

Nothing I said was hard to understand. I just find 1080p plenty for a phone, but way too low for a monitor.
