Pics claim to be of the Galaxy S5

One of the most anticipated launches that is happening at MWC 2014 is the Galaxy S5 smartphone from Samsung. Ahead of the official launch of the device, new images have leaked online.

The leaked images show that the smartphone has a physical button on the front. The person who leaked the images also says that the TouchWiz interface on the device is not a major overhaul compared to the previous version.

The photos do confirm a fingerprint scanner, which can be used with PayPal to authorize payments within the browser. Other specs tipped by the leak include a 16MP camera and IP67 dust and water resistance.

The phone will reportedly come with a 1440x2560 display, 32GB or 64GB of storage, and will also be available with two different processors including an Exynos 6 or a Snapdragon 805 according to the source. The phone is also tipped to get a 3.2MP front camera. Power comes from a 3200 mAh internal battery.

Samsung is scheduled to officially launch the Galaxy S5 later today. You can view quite a few more picture of the Galaxy S5 over at TechCrunch.

The same was said about 720p, then 1080p.

Wrong then, wrong now.

Go back to your iPhone with its pathetic "good enough" PPI.

You're incapable of conversation. Nice rant.

He has a valid point. There are people who will always say what we have now is enough, idiotic in my opinion. Why not just say 1080p is grand for all and be done with it ???

Samsung is pushing the limits on what can be done as far as PPI on a handset. When Apple does it with their screen tech. on their laptops etc. we applaud them for moving the goalposts on what is possible and expect other manufacturers to at least try and match what is capable in the marketplace.

Yet here we have Samsung pushing the envelope on their flagship device and people are still bellyaching.

Well, the real S5 specs came out. Turned out to be a S4 with some updated internals. Instead of pushing the envelope, Samsung's milking the cash cow.

Snap.

And when they push the envelope, haters like you slam them for "useless gimicks" and adding "bloat".

This is why Samsung isn't wasting their time trying to please people who never did, and will never, buy their phones anyway. Biased punk ass little haters like you.

This is EXACTLY what we wanted from the new Galaxy. Keep your captive batteries and lack of storage, keep your aluminum bling bling, your opinion doesn't count.

My current phone is not the Apple iPhone 4S, but the Samsung Galaxy S4 international LTE version, and I'm using that with a large extended battery and 64GB microSD card.

Which means my comments are worth more than yours.

Cry harder.

So I'm assuming you're happy with the S4 since you're still using it?

Then why would you want Samsung to, potentially, screw up a winning formula?

Yes, the S5 is iterative. I say that's a good thing.

What makes you think I'll tell you how I felt about the SGS4, after being on the receiving end of your abusive, overheated rhetoric? Think again.

Bloated slow buggy Android.

You can't take a level-headed rebuttal without treating it as a personal attack.

Take your "holier than thou" attitude elsewhere, kid.

When Apple used an unheard of mind-blowingly high resolution for the iPad 3, it was the greatest thing since the blowjob!

But Samsung pushes resolution on a phone, and it's garbage and "stupid".

If people like the OP had a say in things, our phones would still be 480p. Freaking ridiculous what goes on here...

It isn't that I am against higher res, just that after a while, you run into diminishing returns. How many people can tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p on a 5 inch screen, no matter how close they hold it? Since Samsung didn't end up bumping the res after all, apparently they think they have reached "good enough" considering the trade-offs.

Well since there is no such thing as a 1440p 5" screen to go look at, I can't answer that.

At the very minimum you would get sharper text with NO jaggy lines, even large fonts would look utterly smooth and crisp.

There's probably people who think a DVD looks "as good" as a BluRay out there too. Thankfully nobody listens to them.

There could have been supply issues, volume issues, or it was too expensive etc etc. We don't know at the moment.

No one. Not a single human on the planet earth can tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p. You would need to look at the pixels under a microscope to discern the difference. The human eye just is not good enough.

We are talking about sacrificing battery life and performance for a benefit no human being can enjoy. Wonderful.
