Pics claim to be of the Galaxy S5

One of the most anticipated launches that is happening at MWC 2014 is the Galaxy S5 smartphone from Samsung. Ahead of the official launch of the device, new images have leaked online.

The leaked images show that the smartphone has a physical button on the front. The person who leaked the images also says that the TouchWiz interface on the device is not a major overhaul compared to the previous version.

The photos do confirm a fingerprint scanner, which can be used with PayPal to authorize payments within the browser. Other specs tipped by the leak include a 16MP camera and IP67 dust and water resistance.

The phone will reportedly come with a 1440x2560 display, 32GB or 64GB of storage, and will also be available with two different processors including an Exynos 6 or a Snapdragon 805 according to the source. The phone is also tipped to get a 3.2MP front camera. Power comes from a 3200 mAh internal battery.

Samsung is scheduled to officially launch the Galaxy S5 later today. You can view quite a few more picture of the Galaxy S5 over at TechCrunch.

Oh boy, wrong. Soooooo wrong.

The Galaxy line has always been plastic and never all about styling.

Anyway, this is a phone not a car. There's only so much you can do in terms of looks.

This is something that if you own a Galaxy, you probably don't understand. The thing is made of plastic and feels cheap in the hand. If you own a Galaxy, you own it because of the hardware inside, not Samsung's bargain basement approach to materials and design. Their phones are the polar opposite of the effort they put into designing their TV's, its quite bizarre. If you want an Android device that can compete with the iPhone in terms of looks and design, get an HTC one. Even with that, the cheap plastic speaker grills on the front let it down, so let's not pretend they have the same grasp of quality control and industrial design that Apple do.

Samsung's anti dust feature is an interesting one as I've lost count of the number of times I've had to blow out dust underneath the camera lens which has got inside the camera on my old S3. That's poor design right there, I've never seen that happen with any other flagship phone.
