Z2 smartphone and tablet will launch in March
Sony has unveiled a couple new products at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. The first of these new products is the Xperia Z2 smartphone. Sony says that the device is a “premium” waterproof (IPX5/IPX8) smartphone that will launch globally next month.
The biggest news is that the smartphone has a 20.7MP Exmor RS mobile CMOS image sensor, which is capable of shooting video in 4K resolution. Other features include SteadyShot image stabilization and the ability to shoot video in 120 fps for slow motion playback.
The 5.2-inch screen has full HD resolution and uses TRILUMINOS tech for richer colors.
The Xperia Z2 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor running at 2.3GHz and of course supports 4G LTE. Power comes from a 3200mAh internal battery. Thankfully, the Xperia Z2 will
come out of the box running Android 4.4 KitKat
The waterproof Xperia Z2 Tablet has a 10.1-inch TFT display with a full HD display. The tablet has an 8.1MP rear camera and a 2.2MP front-facing camera.
The Xperia Z2 Tablet also runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and it uses a quad-core 2.3 GHz Qualcomm APQ8074 processor.
Pricing is not yet available for either device.

RE: carriers and US availability?
2/24/2014 12:12:07 PM
Let me guess, T-Mobile only?
No problem there for me... my two years are up in April and I can't wait to dump AT&T like bad news.
Having been on Sprint and Verizon, I can reasonably say AT&T is the worst carrier ever in my area -- the only good thing I can say about it is outside buildings in certain areas its the fastest data-wise. But the store service is poor at best (staff aren't knowledgeable), there's multiple deadspots (more than Verizon, or even Sprint who has a fair number).
Inside anything bigger than a house (e.g. city buildings) you're lucky to have any service.
Network also regularly drops calls.
Traveling to Vegas and San Francisco, I've seen similar glaringly bad coverage from AT&T, particularly inside buildings and in terms of dropped calls, so this doesn't seem to be a problem exclusive to my area.
The price is higher than Sprint -- almost as high as Verizon. Basically in my experience AT&T is the worst of all worlds.
Verizon at least has gotten more competitive with their pricing and is unbeatable coverage-wise, and Sprint is at least lower priced with unlimited full-speed data; AT&T really has next to nothing going for it.
