Pricey window may take some time to replace
has been making a mess on the East Coast of the U.S. this last week. But the snowplows were out and about in New York City streets, and that's when things went terribly wrong for a familiar tech company.
Like the iPhones it sells, the
15-panel iconic glass "Cube"
that caps Apple, Inc.'s (
) Fifth Avenue store proved
a bit fragile to impact
A worker clearing snow Tuesday night apparently
bumped their snow blower
into one of the cube windows, which promptly shattered. The 32-foot window will be an expensive repair job -- the total system cost $7.6M USD to build; replacing the cracked panel in the southeast corner of the cube is expected to cost $450,000 USD.
Hopefully they bought the screen protection plan.

Incidentally, this is the first minor disaster to strike the popular Apple hub, which is open 7 days a week,
24 hours a day
. The store was also flooded back in May due to construction issues.
At least by now the
beleaguered Genius Bar employees
will be read for just about anything, next time disaster strikes.

Naming snow now?

The part of this story that got me is that they are naming snowstorms now? In Canada, there is one name for all "snowstorms": Winter.
What's next, Afternoon Scattered Shower Caligula? God help us, a snowflake - AAAAAHHHH save me O Great Deity Al Gore!

I don't you know gauge weather let alone listen to meteorologists and believe them when they what the weather will be like. You can say "it'll be winter" but that doesn't say anything much really.
Here in the US this is how it goes: unnamed weather = its harmless and normal stuff for this time of the year...named weather = serious sh*t brewing ahead! Once you see snowstorm Hercules approaching you know to get your errands done and get the f**k home. You hear on the news though that a snowstorm is approaching you think "great now I have to deal with moronic drivers". Different mentality and it's all true.
