Atlanta wants people to stop peeing in its elevators

Atlanta has an odorific problem with people urinating in the elevators used in the city train stations. Some people describe the smell of the elevators as akin to a Porta-John that you might see at an outdoor concert.

"The smell hits you so bad. You hold your breath just to hurry up and get off the elevator," said Alicia Porter, a rider on a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) train.

To help stop people from urinating in the elevators, MARTA has installed a urine detection system in the elevators. That system includes sensors that are able to detect urine and a camera to catch the offender literally with their pants down.

The sensors alert MARTA police who are able to respond immediately and catch the offender in the act. The transit system currently has 111 elevators, and one offender has already been caught.

While the efforts to catch habitual urinators are admirable, the system doesn’t come cheap. The urine detection system reportedly costs about $10,000 per elevator.

You being serious right now?

Your attacks on this guy are so out of bounds, it's like you're trolling him. Drop his entire life and go into politics because he made an honest observation of the MARTA system and those who use it?

Don't you think that's going a bit far...

He dropped his own life into politics when he responded with this :

quote:
I read nothing racial at all. I live in the greater metro ATL area and avoid MARTA at all costs BECAUSE of the "riff raff" that's on them...of ALL races (and the amount of car break-ins/thefts at the MARTA train station parking lots). Seems to me the only people out there who see race in ANYTHING they don't agree with is the modern regressive liberal Democrat left who gets butt hurt every time truth is spoken and they attempt to trot out the racist cart in pathetic attempts to shut someone up. Would you be one of them? "Political correctness is nothing but polite tyranny." -- Charlton Heston

Seemed to me he was looking for an argument that didn't have something to do with race then brought the politics into it himself.

He wanted a response that had nothing to do with race. He also said he is experiencing this himself and complaining about it. So let's DO bring political views into this.

Seems you conservative righties do like to complain about the social infrastructures that are in place. However I don't see you doing or even suggesting what can be done to actually fix them. Is that what it means to be "conservative"? To sit back and go Wah! Wah! Wah! and hope the liberals come back and fix it for you?

I made a general statement once before on another topic that "if you are not a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem" and you got your nose out of joint over it. Yet I don't see that I am being proven wrong here. How is this transit thing any different?

You so hate public transit, so what are you doing to fix it Reclaimer? Are you a part of the problem or are you a part of the cure?

I pay my taxes so everyone who doesn't can use public transport.
