Expect auto-playing commercials soon

If you are a user of Facebook, you have probably posted links to video on sites like Instagram or at least have seen them on your newsfeed. To get those videos to play, you currently have to click on the play buttons.
However, Facebook has announced that it will be rolling out a new auto-play feature for videos to all mobile users. Facebook said, "We’re continuing a wider rollout of in-line video on web."
You can bet the idea behind this wasn’t only to make it easier to see the videos your friends share, but to usher in video ads that play automatically. The auto-play videos will mark the first time that moving content has been available by default without having to click play on the News Feed.
Auto-play will reportedly work for videos uploaded directly to Facebook or shared via Instagram. The videos will now play as soon as you scroll over them. They will also continue to play as you move through your feed. The catch is that the sound won't play until you click or tap the video.
Facebook tested the new auto-play feature on the web with a small group of users in September. It is now rolling out to all iOS and Android users even though auto-play ads were tipped to be delayed until 2014.

At least on android, the "Auto-play videos only on Wi-Fi" option doesn't work. Turned on or off, videos still play without my interaction.

I may also stop using FB on my phone. Wifi at home and computer at work, I don't pay for (or need) a lot of data.

Where are all the third party facebook clients? What users need is a univereal social media client that let you browse and post to multiple social media outlets from one convinient and user optimized interface. Like what Trillion did for instant messaging a decade ago.

Facebook (and every other social site) is completely blocked at work. It's also the last thing I want to do when spending precious minutes at my home desktop.

If this breaks FB on the iPhone then I just won't be using it anymore.
