Device isn't available in 16 GB SKU and there's no LTE

The Google Inc.'s (GOOG"Nexus" branded 7-inch tablet, produced by ASUSTek Computer Inc. (TPE:2357), has received a minor facelift following its hardware refresh from earlier this year.

The wraps were just pulled off a sleek, snow white variant second-gen. Nexus 7 variant, which is available exclusively in the U.S., Canada, UK, and Japan, from the Google Play Store.

The only potential downside for those who like the look of the frosty-colored budget Android tablet is that options are a bit more limited than in the "standard" black-colored model.  Notably, the lower memory SKU (16 GB; $229 USD) or carrier-specific LTE versions are not available for the white edition, which can be purchased only in the 32 GB, Wi-Fi sporting SKU.

The hardware is identical to the black second gen. model.

Google is offering a promotion to U.S. and Canadian residents for a limited time which gives them a $35 USD Play Store credit if they purchase a $35 ChromeCast streaming media USB stick along with a Nexus 7 (any color) from the Play Store.  This can be more or less looked at as a free ChromeCast stick with the purchase of the Nexus 7.  The ChromeCast stick allows you to stream video from your Windows or Mac laptop/desktop computer.
