Sony says the PS4 is selling well

Sony says that it has sold 2.1 million PS4 consoles as of December 1. Sony also notes that PS4 owners are taking advantage of the social features of the new console, and that over 6.5 million shares have been captured using the Share button on the PS4 controller.

"PS4 delivered the best launch in PlayStation history with the North American release and we've continued this incredibly successful start in Europe, Australasia and Latin America," said Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

"Demand remains incredibly strong and continues to overwhelm the supply worldwide, but we are diligently working to meet those growing demands and to deliver additional PS4 units to our retail partners throughout the holiday season."

Sony officially announced the PS4 console in June. The PS4 launched on November 15 in the U.S. and Canada, but the console has been in limited supply and some of the early units had an issue dubbed the "blue light of death."

On November 29, the console was made available in Europe, Australia, and Latin America. As of now, the PS4 is available in 32 countries around the world.

People just bash one system or the other because it makes them feel better about their purchase. I personally got an xbox one because it integrates better with the technology I use (windows, surface, skydrive, skype, etc). I have a nice custom PC for gaming, so the PS4 as a pure gaming console didn't have as much appeal for me personally. The xbox one integration with my TV is really nice and the voice commands are well done (but not perfect by any stretch). The ability to snap the TV to the side bar while I am playing a game is something I find to be useful. If I didn't have a PC, I probably would still have gotten the xbox, because outside of the exclusive sony titles, they both will play the same games with minimal difference, even if the PS4 does have slighly higher specs. (honestly neither system wows me with graphics coming from being a long time PC gamer). I just feel like I get more out of the box with the xbox, but I have no ill will for the PS4, at most I will get a little jealous over a hot exclusive title.
