All game choices are download titles

Both of the recently released next generation game consoles, the Xbox One and the PS4, have suffered hardware issues. Some Xbox One consoles have damaged game discs inserted into the drive slot, while the PS4 console has suffered from what is being called the Blue Light of Death.
Microsoft is trying to make it up to gamers who purchased Xbox One consoles that had hardware issues by giving them a free download code for a game. Anyone who purchased a faulty Xbox One console will be able to get a free game from four choices according to Polygon.
The four choices include Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome or Zoo Tycoon. The games are being offered as a free download, so even machines suffering from a defective optical drive will be able to play the games.
"While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game," a statement from Microsoft said. "We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios."
Microsoft continues to maintain that there were issues with a very small number of consoles so far. Microsoft has also promised to "take care" of customers that purchase faulty consoles.

Poor Compensation

I expected Microsoft to release a turd and they didn't disappoint, but Sony taking a page from MS's playbook is kind of laughable. In MS's defense it is a lame but decent olive branch offering the game downloads while waiting for a replacement to be shipped to you.

Both consoles are fail in my eyes due to the lack of backwards compatibility and the possible lock-out for playing used games. I'm still on the fence about getting one or both, the game line ups haven't really impressed me much. I feel for the people who have suffered the BLOD's and the chewed discs and hope both companies will do right by you.

backwards compatibility is really some big deal breaker? if you want to play 360 games just play them on your 360. who the buys a xbox one and then complains they can't play old 360 games? in another year there will be no 360 games you will even want to play and will be a non issue. when i got my 360 i think i played halo 2 a couple times and thats it. not to mention i could have just used my original xbox to play it if i wanted.
